capot

Growing up my mom use to insist that I wear this hideous orange cowl to keep my neck warm during the winter months. But I always resisted. For some reason, I love scarves but never found free standing cowls to be very cool. (On the other hand, cowl neck sweaters are totally hip!) But yesterday walking through the Pru, I did some window shopping at Free People, like I always do, and was enticed by the chunky navy blue cowl on the mannequin. So of course, now I need it. And at almost 50$, I think I'll just make it.

manteau

Although it is only the middle of October, and technically fall, my fall coat is definitely not keeping me warm enough. And even though I can't justify buying another winter coat this yea (because I got a great coat last year from Benetton) I definitely enjoy staring at this tweed jacket from Reiss.

Who could imagine that H & M could come up with something so wonderful? I definitely shop at H & M a lot (too much probably) but this is piece is quite unexpected from the more generic items at H & M. Love, love, love it.

P.S. Refinery 29 Pipeline is also where I found this amazing dress:
P.P.S. Isn't it interesting how certain types of clothing attract you, but there are none to be found in your closet? I do love sheers, but I know there are none in my closet.

Shopping splurges... (If only I was so lucky)

And this dress from Anthropologie. This is not to say I only need accessories, or that I need any of this. But it's nice to day dream once in a while and get inspired.

P.S. I got the Anthropologie dress this weekend. :)

providence

I spent the day in Providence, Rhode Island, although I don't remember getting there or back. In true me fashion, I fell asleep on the car ride up and back. Without fail, the three things I do when I go to Providence: 1. visit the Providence Mall (use to be the closest Nordstrom until it opened at Natick), 2. eat the Trio of Wild Mushroom pizza at Bob and Timmy's Grilled Pizza (absolutely amazing wood grilled pizza), 3. eat a fruit tart at Pastiche down the street (tonight I tried the Fresh Lime Mousse Tart and it was heavenly). The special occassion for the night was dinner at Two Fourty Two. Inexpensive and very good! Items consumed included warm brie with apricot, sweet potatoe fries, beef carappacio, duck and chilean sea bass.

Tonight, if I could make four additions to my wardrobe, these are the things I would purchase. On the other hand, I was able to make three new additions to my wardrobe a la H & M.

Leifsdottir Ruffle Dress, found on Nordstrom. Apparently it is Anthropologie's newest brand line.

Cute T from dELia's. March of the Penquins made me cry. I know, I'm too sensitive.

Purple low rise thin cords from Gap. Gap is back on my go-to-shop list.

The last item is a pair of patterned tights that I saw on display at Nordstrom, but am unable to locate online. The pattern is reminiscent of Orla Kiely's leaf pattern. Maybe this is a sign that I need to purchase them. Last season I saw a similar pair made by Wolford Hosiery, but also unable to locate, unfortunately.

bijoux

Last week I realized I lost a cocktail ring I bought recently at Banana Republic. Consequently, I have been searching day and night for this ring, although at this point I should resign myself to the fact that I have misplaced and lost the ring. Banana Republic has a similar ring on sale now, but I am against paying $50 for it. So now I have been furiously trying to find an equitable replacement. The only plus of this whole situation is that it has made me want to clean and get organized (starting Monday!) In the meantime, I am still on the search for an all black pave style cocktail ring.

This ring at Ross Simons is very close to what I'm looking for, except my ring was all black. And this ring from Emitations has piqued my interest. I found these rings on Stylefeeder. What a great concept-especially because I haven't had any luck with Google searches.

I think I'm going to go with this one for the time being, from Overstock.

toast

Toast is a London-based clothing and housewares shop. Although I have never purchased anything from the site (yet!--shipping costs make it practically impossible), the catalogs are simply beautiful to look at and inspirational. I am not one to advocate wasting paper on frivolous catalogs, but the images on their catalogs are really so serene and picturesque.

Beautiful, no? A main reason to blog is to have a place where I can document all the gorgeous things I find on the web.
