waiting for peonies to be in season!

This other picture by Emilie Bjork is also great, originally seen on A Cup of Jo. Her style, composition and subject matter remind me of Francesca Woodman, below. In my Art History major days, I was very fond of black and white photography, and Woodman's pieces have always intrigued and disturbed me at the same time.

So after about a month of obsessing over, searching for, and looking for a replacement for my lost black BR ring, I found it last night! Somehow it ended up with my yarn. Maybe it was a sign that I really should do some knitting or donate the yarn, or make some winter items and donate those. I immediately went upstairs last night and put the ring safely in my jewelry box, which needs to be cleaned out and organized (pretty much like everything else in my life). One of my friends displays her jewelry in tea cups on her dresser table, and I think I might do that, especially since I'm making bowls in wheel throwing that aren't deep enough for any other use (phew, that was a long sentence).

I took my second weaving class this afternoon. And the verdict is that I wove too tightly--darn, such a bummer. I'm weaving a new scarf now; a green cotton scarf. I really am thinking about getting a loom because I am already very comfortable getting the loom set up. The one issue I have is trying to figure out what to do about the yarn, since the yarns I have really aren't suitable for weaving. But I'm not going to rush to buy it, since the loom and supplies is close to $300.

I think next weekend I'm going to take out my Quad Camera/Action Sampler and take some pictures. I've had it for too many years to count and have never ever taken a picture with it. I think I should also go and find a battery for my Polaroid camera that I won on eBay. Polaroid stopped its production of the instant film, so I also have about 2 packs of the instant film and a camera. But I'm just tempted to take another Polaroid Transfers class at PaperSource. So much fun! My problem is I want to try everything, and even though I think I am fairly responsible with my purchases, I think I can let certain crafts fall to the wayside. Right now that certain craft is definitely my knitting.

In other news, this vase from Anthropologie is awesome. I loved Chemistry when I was younger, before it got insanely impossible. And I definitely find beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks and test tubes well suited for personal home decorating.

I could have slept a little later this morning--actually I could probably sleep a little later every morning. But especially today, because yesterday was a long day, on account of it being my first wheel-throwing class. It's too soon to say that I will be good or bad at it, but its not looking so promising so far.

According to the photographer, "I am sure it is only my imagination, but the story my imagination has written makes them a couple who share a resentment of the other which causes their frowns and makes their sleep a little more restive than yours or mine." It's definitely possible. What do you think? The best-the title: How Many Years Have I Hated You?

pluie

Great illustration from Blanca Gomez. I like the juxtaposition between the gloom of the rain and the cheerfulness of the yellow.

automne

Today is the first day of fall, and although it hasn't started snowing in Boston yet, I feel like it's time to start wearing the winter coats, boots, long underwear, hats and mittens. I remember enjoying winter much more as a child. Definitely more carefree, especially since snow meant no school. Now it means trudging to work in slush with frozen fingers and toes.

Not having the best day, despite it being Friday. However, these two images cheer me up. Click here and here.

Beautiful, no? A main reason to blog is to have a place where I can document all the gorgeous things I find on the web.
